Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) call to action delivers results.

Motorcyclists from across the country descend upon nation's capitol.

Washington DC felt a little more crowded than normal last week, and it's
because of all of the motorcyclist advocates in town to meet with their
members of the House and Senate. At the Motorcycle Riders Foundation’s
(MRF) request, several state motorcyclists' rights organizations (SMROs)
sent teams of lobbyists to DC to address the issues surrounding the
National Transportation Safety Board's recent motorcycle safety
recommendations. Over 45 meetings with Congress occurred last week alone,
and even more motorcyclists are expected this week. The states that have
sent representation to DC so far are: West Virginia, Tennessee, North
Carolina, South Carolina, Michigan, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and
Maryland.

The MRF would like to extend sincere thanks to the freedom fighters that
have walked the halls of Congress on this important issue. Thus far, eight
members of the House of Representatives have sent letters to the NTSB
asking them to reconsider their motorcycle safety recommendations. Of
those eight Representatives, two are chairmen. A full list of letters will
be available in the near future.

Hitting the road.

Not only have motorcyclists been coming to DC, but also the MRF has been
coming to you!  MRF Vice President of Government Relations Jeff Hennie
recently traveled to the Mid South MILE (Motorcyclists Improving
Legislative Effectiveness) as a featured speaker.  "The MILE is one of the
best regional conferences in the country; other regions should follow this
model and enjoy some of the same successes," said Hennie.  Hennie also
presented at ABATE of Maryland's legislative day in scenic Galesville.

MRF President Kirk "Hardtail" Willard has also been crisscrossing the
country to attend motorcyclists' rights events. For the past few weekends,
Hardtail has been spotted with ABATE of Nebraska at their STEAM event
(Seminar To Educate and Motivate), the Freedom of Road Riders of
Missouri's legislative summit, and all points in between.

This week promises to be an interesting one, with the MRF's press event on
Thursday, November 15.  Look for a full report on that later this week.
